A different kind of wealth

Into the heart of courage and commitment

Geraldine Cox, Sunrise Children's Villages

Geraldine Cox tells her extraordinary story of courage, commitment, death and unrelenting human spirit going from a life of corporate hedonism to caring for 200 Cambodian orphans and disadvantaged children.

Geraldine began her career in the Australian DFA living in Cambodia, a country at war. After moving into the corporate sector she spent almost a decade with an American Bank, experiencing corporate glamour and hedonism.

In 1993 she moved back to Cambodia to care for over 200 Cambodian orphans in changeable and often dangerous circumstances with scarce resources.

With unrelenting commitment and courage, Geraldine has made an irreplaceable difference helping many children in her care rise above their origins to start a life of independence and dignity.

In 2000, Geraldine was made Member of the Order of Australia and the documentary on her life, "My Khmer Heart", won the Hollywood Film Festival Documentary of the Year.
